IdleTime

Current version: 1.0
Freeware
Requires Apple IIgs System 6.0.1 or later

IdleTime is a system extension that monitors user activity, keeping track of how long it's been since the last time the user pressed a key or clicked or moved the mouse. Other applications, extensions, or desk accessories can use Interprocess Communication (IPC) to obtain this information from IdleTime.

This can be useful for programs like screen savers, or for programs that need to go into an idle mode after a certain amount of time, such as instant messaging programs (gsAIM uses IdleTime for this).

Complete documentation for how to use IdleTime is included with the software. Typically, end users won't install this on their own -- they'll install other software that includes a copy of IdleTime.
